When you get to Madrid you’ll soon learn about intercambios de idiomas, or a ‘language exchanges’. An intercambio involves practicing your Spanish with Spaniards, and they speak your native language with you. More often than not, these events take place in bars, restaurants or parks.

If you’re new to Madrid, don’t sit home alone! Get out and meet new people and learn Spanish any night of the week.

In Madrid you will find plenty of organized languages exchanges but we have put together a quick list of some of our favorites!

  1. SPEED FRIENDING INTERCAMBIO:

Make your Monday a bit more fun at Roll Madrid, which is organized by MadridNoFilter. This happens every Monday in Conde Duque (closest metro is San Bernardo) you can meet new people and participate in dynamic, organized and fun activities. Read more

Every Tuesday you can go to this language exchange and practice your Spanish at Carmencita bar, located near metro Noviciado. Also a glass of buck’s fizz, or mimosa is just 1 € all night! Read more

  1. MULTILINKUAL:

This intercambio meets on Thursdays and Sundays at the bar Beer Station. This one stands out as on Fridays they also organize a visit to the cinema where you can take advantage of an exclusive discount before enjoying an evening at The Maltese Cross Pub. They also have excursions on weekends to help you get to know Madrid and the surrounding cities better. Read more

  1. SE HABLA ESPAÑOL:

In the lively neighborhood of La Latina, you will find the bar El Estudio de los Arquitectos. Every Thursday you can go to their language exchange in which each person gets a label with their language level to help you find a conversation partner with a similar level. In this cozy bar you can also enjoy cañas (small beers) for only 1€.

  1. J & J BOOKS AND COFFEE:

Intercambio Nights are every Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday in this bar near Noviciado metro station. You can practice your Spanish and be surrounded by books while doing it. Their snacks come highly recommended and are the perfect conversation starter for a chat with new friends. If you’re staying in Madrid for a longer period of time, you should check out their book club as well! Read more

LAE Madrid and TomeVinos in Barrio Salamanca have joined together to create a bilingual wine tasting and intercambio event every Tuesday from 19.30 until late. Learn Spanish over some delicious wine from around the world. A great way to meet people and it’s just around the corner from LAE Madrid.
